Syndicate Rules What,
you might ask; does a comic have to do with Alternate History?
Sure, I’ve reviewed a handful of Elseworld comics, such as Act of God,
but why a mainstream comic? Syndicate
Rules is an 8-part story about the third conflict between the JLA – Justice
League of America – and their evil doppelgangers, the Crime Syndicate of
America. The CSA hails from an
alternate dimension – and now they think that the League has launched an
attack on them. Naturally, they
come to our dimension to punish the league, while another threat is looming at
the edge of the cosmos. So,
why did I like this comic? The
first and most enjoyable part was a glimpse into the CSA’s world.
Ruled by the CSA, it depends upon the Favour Bank; an unbreakable rule
that anyone who gives you a favour must be repaid, no matter the cost.
The second part is that it was nice to see the JLA handed their heads for
once, not managing to jail the villains as they normally do. If
you’re not into comics, you won’t like it.
But its worth a read. The members of the
